	SACRED SPACE Friday through Sunday, Convention 304, 3rd floor (new location) Back for its third year, “Sacred Space” finds a new home on the third level of the Convention Center. Take a respite from the day’s events and enter a space dedicated to facilitating a sense of peaceful reflection and spiritual rejuvenation. Our Sacred Space will offer Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a labyrinth, and meditative music and inspirational art.
Ron Schmidt, SJ Master of Ceremonies	NEW! – CATHOLIC FILMMAKERS’ SHOWCASE Friday & Saturday, 8:00-10:30 pm, Hilton Pacific Ballroom A There is a growing community of Catholic production companies in Hollywood, making everything from short educational films to documentaries and feature films. This year the Religious Education Congress proudly presents shorts and clips from a number of these companies, shown on Friday and Saturday night. Producers and directors will be on hand to meet with audience members after the screenings. This is a chance to see what’s being done by some of Hollywood’s Catholic faith community. Come celebrate this work with us! This event is coordinated by Ron Schmidt, SJ and John Flaherty. Fr. Schmidt will be the Master of Ceremonies for the two nights of screenings.

Michael O’Neill McGrath, “Jesus – The Way, The Truth, The Life.” And breathtaking photographic images by Gerard Thomas Straub of the Christ among us in the lives of our brothers and sisters in India, Kenya, Brazil, Jamaica. These images speak to the heart and to the artistic and creative soul in each one of us.
Dr Michael Horan	SATURDAY LUNCHTIME EXCHANGE Saturday, 11:45 am “Theological Study that Serves the Church: Lay Women and Men Tell Their Story”  Come, share lunch and hear why people study theology in order to serve parishes, schools and communities more effectively. This gathering includes information about theological study at three institutions in the Los Angeles Archdiocese: Loyola Marymount University, Mount St. Mary’s College and St. John’s Seminary. If you have ever wondered “Why do so many lay people study theology these days?” or if you want more information about theological study, this lunchtime session will be especially helpful to you. The moderator will be Dr. Michael Horan, Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University.
	CRS' "THE CHILDREN LEFT BEHIND" EXHIBIT Friday through Sunday, Prefunction area CRS presents a hands-on, interactive exhibit about AIDS orphans from Cambodia, Uganda, Guatemala, India, South Africa and the Unlived States. The goal of the traveling exhibit is to educate families about the impact of AIDS on children; to show the danger of ignoring AIDS; to inspire visitors with the hope and spirit of children living with the reality of AIDS; and to empower visitors to act on behalf on children orphaned by AIDS.
	ST. JOHN'S BIBLE PROJECT Friday through Sunday, 3rd floor Convention Center The next phase of the St. John Bible Project will be featured at “Sacred Space.”
	CARDINAL MAHONY CHAT Friday, Exhibit Hall A, 10 am - noon On Friday of Congress, March 2, 2007, Cardinal Roger Mahony will conduct an online chat session. This will be the 11th annual Congress chat with the Cardinal.

Ten years later, on Friday, March 31, 2006, the Cardinal's annual chat was conducted in a room hosted on ChurchWerks.com. The Cardinal participated in 22 Congress chats (both nationwide and with schools) over 14 years. At Congress 2016, Archbishop José Gomez has continued the tradition of (now, video) chats with school students from the Archdiocese. This was his sixth Congress chat (and fourth video chat) conducted from the Tech Center, located in the center of Exhibit Hall A at the Religious Education Congress. The RECongress chat are now continued through the regional bishops, while the Archbishop now holds an event on Facebnook Live. Beginning on CompuServe, the RECongress nationwide chats have been hosted by AOL Live! (1997-2000), Beliefnet (2001), CatholicWeb.com (2002-2003), and ChurchWerks.com (2004-2010). The school chats have been conducted on AOL (2001-2006), Yahoo (2007), Chatzy (2008-2012), Skype (2013-2014) and Google+ (2015-2016).
