Apr 17: I have been notified of the sad news of Mary Lou McGee's death. It happened on Thursday, April 13th. Those who worked with RECongress and the Office of Religious Education knew her. She was the former RECongress Coordinator (2004), MaryLou worked in the Office of Religious Education and for the Department of Catholic Schools for many, many years. Her funeral mass will take place Friday, April 21st at 10:00 am - St. Jude the Apostle Church in Westlake Village. Please keep Mary Lou's family in your prayers.

Thank you, Tina and Dave Lavendier, for letting us know about this sad news. Mary Lou was an engaging and funny person. She will be dearly missed.

The Anaheim Convention Center is currently undergoing construction. Car Park 1 (off Katella Ave. and adjacent to the Arena) is the site for their latest project. This expansion -- its seventh since opening in 1967 -- will provide 200,000 square feet of meeting space and will replace Car Park 1. Construction began summer 2015 and is expected to end in late Summer 2017. See a video about the expansion here. You can find complete information about the project online at www.accexpansion.com .

WHERE? Download the map. During construction, you may park in Car Park 4 or Car Park 6 (both accessed from West Street), the Toy Story Lot (off of Harbor Blvd) or the parking structure at the Anaheim GardenWalk (off of Katella Ave.).

SHUTTLE - Also note that the Convention Center is providing shuttle service to and from both the Disney Toy Story Lot and the Anaheim GardenWalk parking structure. For your convenience, the shuttle runs from 7 am to 10 pm. Parking is $15 -- the same rate as at the Convention Center.

This Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, as called for by Pope Francis, has inspired many people already and given the Church great energy moving into the next year. It had a great impact on our work in preparation for Congress 2017. The jubilee year, along with Pope Francis' encyclical on the environment, sparked some wonderful creativity in our liturgy preparations. Our hope is that the liturgies of Congress may be a Spirit-filled encounter with Christ Jesus and a celebration of the life of the Church. We invite you to experience a liturgy from among the many cultures represented.
