Religious Education Congress
February 22-24, 2013The Technology Center at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress is adjacent to the Office of Religious Education booth, located in the center of Exhibit Hall A, The RECongress Tech Center is available to both exhibitors and selected companies. Its purpose is to highlight educational software, online services and Internet resources – be it web site or computer-based software – that is of interest to our Congress attendees. Our Tech Center is in a stage/audience format with two PC-based multimedia computers (with Internet access), a large rear-projection screen behind the presenter on stage, an additional large format plasma screen off to the side. The Tech Center also offers free Internet access to Congress-goes.

(Check booth for schedule updates)FRIDAY – FEBRUARY 22, 2013 10:15 – 11:00 am Archbishop Gomez Online – The Archbishop conducts his first online video chat from Congress with students from St. Bernard Elementary School in Los Angeles. 11:30 – 12:00 pm Outside da Box – Highlighting its latest video resource – VCAT (Video Catechism). This 48-film series addresses key concepts from the four sections of the Catechism of the Catholic Church – Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. Did we mention that it is a FREE online resource?! 12:00 – 12:30 pm Catholic Communication and Collaboration (C3) – The Los Angeles Archdiocese in partnership with Clearwire is developing and implementing new technologies for ministry and education in parishes, schools and homes throughout the Archdiocese. 12:30 – 1:00 pm Compelling Creations shares a peak behind the scenes of an independent sales Consultant’s virtual workstation. Learn the benefits of joining as a Consultant in this marketplace ministry. 1:00 – 1:30 pm Lisa Hendey & Barbara Kolbe Baker highlight great new developments in the arena of Social Media, including the trend toward visually dynamic media. Check out the latest trends including Pinterest, Instagram, Infographics, Flickr and more. 1:30 – 2:00 pm Gradelink – See a demonstration of the #1 online grading and Student Information System in action; hear testimonials plus get a preview of our newest features!

2:30 – 3:00 pm Charlotte McCorquodale will provide information about our new Online Certificate in Youth Ministry. Charlotte will provide an overview of the program and offer a demonstration of an online course.

11:30 – 12:00 pm OCP – John Vogler of OCP will explore e-books: e-book formats (epub versus pdf), readers, searching and navigating, along with a demonstration of OCP’s latest e-book, “Respond and Acclaim”. Advantages of e-books and limitations on the use of some e-books in liturgical settings will be discussed, followed by a Q&A session.

Presented by Daniel Houze (RandomHouze Productions) and Robin Rokisky (Seaton Delta Consulting), this 20-minute video is a discussion on the various uses of A/V technology in the liturgy and how it was done for the first time at the 2010 Religious Education Congress.
