LABYRINTH: Walking a Sacred Path

Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.mThis year Congress offers an opportunity to experience the Labyrinth – an ancient walking meditation practiced in many cultures and faith traditions. We will be waking a Chartres-style Labyrinth, the original of which was built in Chartres Cathedral in the 12th century. It continues to be used as a form of walking meditation today.

This year, a joint venture of Journey Films and Family Theater Productions will be documenting some of our Congress events. The result will be a four-hour public television series exploring the history and contemporary experience of Catholics in America. Multi-ethnic, multi-cultural campuses mean a variety of students – one-size campus ministry does not fit all. Join well-known ethicist and campus chaplain Fr. Dick Sparks for a candid conversation. Teaching morality on campus today: Who? What? How? Bring your questions and "hot topics."

5:15 p.m. in Convention Ballroom ABCFr. Alexander Lewis will preside at this "young adult-friendly" liturgy, with Music Directors Joseph Edwards and Vincent Adams. An Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Parish in San Pedro, Fr. Alexander trilingual – speaking Vietnamese, Spanish and English – and is a popular speaker at our Theology-On-Tap series.

Bishop John Cummins and Sr. Felicia Sarati, both of the Oakland Diocese, will talk on the Asian and Pacific communities in our church. Bishop Cummins is a member of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, which prepared the pastoral statement "Asian and Pacific Presence – Harmony in Faith."
