Come and listen to words of Wisdom and of Hope. Check the schedule for poetry readings of selections by Arab women and works from "Dreamyard/LA" as well as poets Langston Hughes, Brendan Kenneally, Mary Oliver, Jessica Powers, Walt Whitman, and David Wythe.

LABYRINTH: Walking a Sacred Path

(Hilton) San Simeon Room

This year Congress offers an opportunity to experience the Labyrinth – an ancient walking meditation practiced in many cultures and faith traditions. We will be waking a Chartres-style Labyrinth, the original of which was built in Chartres Cathedral in the 12th century. It continues to be used as a form of walking meditation today.

"Catholics in America"

This year, a joint venture of Journey Films and Family Theater Productions will be documenting some of our Congress events. The result will be a four-hour public television series exploring the history and contemporary experience of Catholics in America. "Morality and the Next Generation: Where Are We? Where Are We Going?"

Multi-ethnic, multi-cultural campuses mean a variety of students – one-size campus ministry does not fit all. Join well-known ethicist and campus chaplain Fr. Dick Sparks for a candid conversation. Teaching morality on campus today: Who? What? How? Bring your questions and "hot topics."

Fr. Alexander Lewis will preside at this "young adult-friendly" liturgy, with Music Directors Joseph Edwards and Vincent Adams. An Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Parish in San Pedro, Fr. Alexander trilingual – speaking Vietnamese, Spanish and English – and is a popular speaker at our Theology-On-Tap series.

Come, discover the artifacts, statues and pictures as instruments that call, summon, announce or gather, symbols that are sacred and important to a culture. This exhibit is presented by the following Archdiocesan ministries: Ethnic Groups, Hispanic/Latino, Filipino and African-American.

 

VIETNAMESE LITURGY

Join in a celebration of liturgy in the Vietnamese perspective with presider Most Rev. Cao Dinh Thuyen, Bishop of Vinh, Vietnam.

"Asian and Pacific Presence – Harmony in Faith"

Bishop John Cummins and Sr. Felicia Sarati, both of the Oakland Diocese, will talk on the Asian and Pacific communities in our church. Bishop Cummins is a member of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, which prepared the pastoral statement "Asian and Pacific Presence – Harmony in Faith."
