May 5: It is with great sadness that I share with you the death of Luis Maria Benavides. Living in Argentina, Luis Benavides had been a speaker at Religious Education Congress for some years in the area of Elementary Catechesis. An invitation was sent to him to return to Congress 2018 and speak but unfortunately, we received the news that he passed away after receiving treatment for an inoperable brain tumor. A native of Argentina, he had a joyful personality and described himself as “Pope Francis’ friend. We are comforted by the promise of eternal life given to us by Christ Jesus. Please remember to pray for the repose of his soul and the comfort of his wife, Liliana.
Apr 17: I have been notified of the sad news of Mary Lou McGee's death. It happened on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Those who worked with RECongress and the Office of Religious Education knew her. She was the former RECongress Coordinator (2004), MaryLou worked in the Office of Religious Education and for the Department of Catholic Schools for many years. Her Funeral Mass took Friday, April 21 at 10 am at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Westlake Village. Please keep Mary Lou's family in your prayers. Thank you, Tina and Dave Lavendier, for letting us know about this sad news. Mary Lou was an engaging and funny person. She will be dearly missed.

See the Performance Stage ScheduleWithin the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, liturgy is celebrated every Sunday in no fewer than 40 different languages. Living in the gift, promise and spirit of the Second Vatican Council, the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress liturgies have grown as they have embraced this wonderfully diverse church. Without exaggeration, complimentary reports and reviews come from six of the world’s seven continents. From Gregorian chant to gospel choirs; from Aztec dancers to Vietnamese and African drummers; we’ve worked diligently to inculturate the liturgies at Congress to accurately and authentically reflect the church of Los Angeles.
