Los Angeles Youth Day
The Youth Day Coordinating Team and the Office of Religious Education is GRATEFUL for your support of the Religious Education Congress/Youth Day 2016! The hard work and dedication of over 500 youth and adult volunteers, along with your efforts in the parishes and schools of our Archdiocese (and beyond) made it possible for 14,000 participants to stay #hopebound. This great message carried around the globe through social media, where #LAYouthDay and #hopebound TRENDED on Twitter and Instagram and even made the L.A. Story on Snapchat. This was only possible with the participation of you and your young people.

Youth Day Updates
Registration -- Register your group today! Workshops are closing. Avoid having your paperwork returned by registering online. If you are mailing in your paperwork, please double check that you selected 2 choices for each workshop session. Note, if you the choices you selected are full, your group will be assigned to Hall B. Also, remember that the "compliant" box must be marked ONLY for adults coming to Youth Day. For those who registered before the rate increase on January 8 your name badges will be mailed on January 15. A second mailing will follow later this month.

Arena Liturgy Choir and Band -- We need youth voices and musical talent for the archdiocesan Arena liturgy choir and band. Rehearsals will take place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on January 23, February 6 and February 13 (for cantors, psalmist and soloists) and February 20 with the band. Official Youth Day T-shirt -- Official Youth Day T-shirts and sweatshirts can be pre-ordered from PAL (Peace and Love) Campaign at a discounted price valid through January 25. When pre-ordering, you can also customize the T-shirts for your group with the name of your parish or school for an additional fee. Pricing information can be found on the Youth Day website. Youth Day - Training Day
Do your young people want more than just to attend Youth Day 2016? Are they looking for ways to actively engage with their peers? If so, we are offering a vast array of opportunities for them to use their gifts and talents...Spirit Squad, Social Media, Emcee, Liturgical Movement, and Arena Liturgy Choir & Band. A Training Day will be held on December 19 at Holy Family Church (1527 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030). The registration form is available online. You must register before December 16, 2015. Spirit Squad -- We are looking for a team of high-energy, dynamic high school-aged youth to be part of our Spirit Squad! Throughout the day the Spirit Squad will pump up the crowd with games and chants, promote our theme, help direct attention to social media, and transition participants to their events. If you are ready to show your spirit and have some fun, be sure to attend the training day on December 19, 2015 at Holy Family Church (1527 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030). Social Media -- We are seeking a team of high school aged youth to help us populate our social media platforms during LA Youth Day. There will be an application and interview process, concluding with a training day on December 19, 2015 at Holy Family Church (1527 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030). Youth Day Emcee -- We are looking for young people in high school to introduce speakers and help with our general sessions. Do you like performing before large crowds? Do you like to help others have a good time? If you answered yes to these questions, come be part of this great day! Be an Emcee at Youth Day 2015. Liturgical Movement -- Do you feel called to the ministry of liturgical movement? We are seeking youth (girls and boys!) to participate in the Youth Day liturgy as Ministers of Liturgical Movement. “I’m not a dancer,” you say? Can you move your body? Can you keep time to music? Do you love God and want to praise God with your heart, spirit, mind and body? Then this ministry is for you. Rehearsals will be on Saturday mornings in January and February at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada. If you are interested, please contact Kristina Ortega at layouthday@gmail.com .

Youth Day
Don't wait to register your group! The fee will increase on January 8, 2016.
Please remember ALL ADULTS attending Youth Day (whether Chaperones or just attending) MUST be compliant with Safe Environment policies and procedures (fingerprinting/background checks, etc.) including compliance with required Safe Environment Adult Training. The Contact Person must be able to produce records indicating completion of these awareness sessions should he/she be asked. This year, we are requiring the Contact Person/group leader completing the registration form (online or by mail) to note that each adult is compliant. If mailing in, please check the “Compliant” box under Chaperone (there is no adult check box because all chaperones must be adults) AND for any other adults in the group, the "Adult" and "Compliant" boxes must be checked or the registration and check will be returned. If registering online, please check the "Compliant" boxes (required fields) for both Chaperones and adults.

Santa Barbara Youth Day – Online registration is now open!
Please remember that the Santa Barbara Regional Youth Day (open to any Youth Ministry/Confirmation program in the Archdiocese) will be on Saturday, January 16, at Bishop Garcia Diego High School in Santa Barbara. The theme for the day is “Different Gifts: Same Spirit.” The special guest will be Judy McDonald and music will be offered by Jeremy and Ryan. Administrative Handbook – Save the date November 17, 2015
Are you familiar with the Archdiocesan Administrative Handbook? Are you aware that such document exists? Are you familiar with the current permission slips/medical release forms? Do you know how retreat centers are approved? Do you know how long you need to keep attendance records? If you work in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and find yourself asking similar questions, then we strongly encourage you to attend a training the legal department will be giving to all youth ministers and confirmation coordinators. This is great opportunity to be informed, ask questions and to meet the individuals who form part of the team that are writing the policies. The training will take place on November 17, 2015 at St. Bede’s in La Cañada.
