Religious Education Congress

Religious Education Congress (bulletin annoucement)

The Religious Education Congress is an annual event sponsored by the Office of Religious Education. Approximately 10,000 youth will join together on April 6 for a day of enrichment through thirteen diverse workshops, a concert, and Eucharistic Liturgy. An estimated 20,000 adults are expected during the days of April 7, 8 and 9. There will be over 250 workshops presented in English, Spanish and Vietnamese by the most renown speakers from across the U.S. and Europe. The topics addressed will range from spiritually and personal development to theology and catechesis. Sister Edith Prendergast will open Congress 2000 with  a reflection on the theme, “Awaken Hope-Shout Jubilee”. Sr. Elizabeth Johnson, Craig Kielburger, Arun Gandhi and Bishop Samuel Ruiz will be our Saturday and Sunday keynote speakers. The morning praise, evening liturgies and prayer will be uplifting and life giving with music, song and movement. Daily noon time concerts and evening performances promise to be entertaining and inspiring. Register now because Congress 2000 promises to be an enriching and spirit filled weekend. For more information on speakers and events, pick up a registration guidebook from the religious education office or call Adrian Whitaker, (213) 637-7332 / 7346.
