Begun as an Institute in 1956, our first event was held at Mount Carmel High School in Los Angeles. There were some 500 teachers and catechists in attendance at the two-day conference. Our last gathering brought together 30,000 over a four-day event.

Liturgy Spotlight: From Generation to Generation

From Generation to Generation: Honoring our Ancestors in Faith, from the Vietnamese Perspective
In the reading of this day, as we enter into Lent, God promises the Jewish people that he will nourish them with the heritage of Jacob, their father. And he calls all of us to lives of repentance, compassion and justice. This Service of the Word, in the time of the Lunar New Year, helps us reflect upon how the heritage of our ancestors sustains and inspires new generations of Vietnamese throughout the world to respond to God’s call. Images, settings, and music from the Vietnamese diaspora -- communities in Vietnam, Rome, Canada, the United States, and Australia -- help us to come together in traditions of grateful unity. We pray that we may honor our ancestors by living the vibrant faith they have given to us.

Sacred Space Spotlight

Sacred Space has been a retreat of sorts at RECongress where visitors can participate in creative forms of reflective prayer and meditation. Artists and musicians share their talents creating an environment of beauty and tranquility. This virtual RECongress will provide the opportunity to visit the artists in their studios where they will share their unique process of creating art that becomes their visual prayer. The musicians will share their gift of music as well as their personal stories of what inspires them. This will be an intimate look at how these artists have answered the call to create beauty that ignites the spirit!

CONGRESS AGENDA ANNOUNCED BY ARCHBISHOP
10,000 Registrants Expected For Three-Day Event

His Excellency, Archbishop Timothy Manning has announced that the City of Anaheim with its outstanding convention facilities is opening its arms to the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine REGIONAL CONGRESS, scheduled for March 26, 27 and 28, 1971. Hosts for the Congress will be the Metropolitan See of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Dioceses of San Diego, Monterey and Fresno.

The Congress will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, March 26 and will close with a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, March 28 at 5:00 p.m. The respective Diocesan CCD Directors – Rev. Msgr. Leland J. Boyer (Los Angeles Archdiocese, the Congress General Chairman), assisted by Chairmen Reverend Denis Ryan (San Diego), Reverend Thomas Kleinhans (Fresno), and Reverend Tod Brown (Monterey) – extend to all Confraternity workers and to those interested in this field of the apostolate a most cordial invitation to participate. The Regional Congress is expected to draw over 10,000 registrants during the three days.
