Mount Saint Mary's Name Change
On January 1, 2015 Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles officially became Mount Saint Mary’s University. For the past 20 years, the college had been classified as a university under the Carnegie classification system. The official delineation between college and university rests on the number of graduate degrees granted, with university status applied to institutions granting 50 or more graduate degrees per year. (The Mount awarded 180 graduate degrees in 2012.) The University will continue in its history in the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Read some FAQs about the name change

Session B - "Real Talk: The Power of Prayer"
Youth Day, Thursday, March 12, 2015
In this workshop, we will look at the importance of prayer: communicating with God. Why do we find it hard to pray at times? What can we do when we know we need to pray but don’t know how? How do we handle the times when it seems like God is not listening to our prayers? How do we wait on Him?

Permission to Be You – The Freedom to Shine (*)
Session 1-11, Friday, March 13, 2015 - 10:00 - 11:30 am
There will always be some voice telling me that whoever I am today is not enough. The challenge is accepting that every one of us has the capacity for bounteousness. Yes, we want to love other people without holding back. We want to feel authentic. And yet, we listen to inner voices that keep our life small. We live stuck. But what if we are truly the light of the world – as Jesus said – and we are meant to shine? What if, as children of God, there are resources to draw upon – a reservoir of kindness, compassion, hope and resilience? Can we return to the truth of who we really are – to lovingly accept the humanity entrusted to us? Am I willing to be loved for being this me?

Find Your Sanctuary – Creating Places of Rest, Renewal and Refuge (*)
Session 4-09, Saturday, March 14, 2015 - 10:00 - 11:30 am (Arena)

Everyone has a sanctuary. It is a place where you do not owe anyone and where no one owes you. We are wired to need grounding and renewal and less hurry. And yet, we make choices – with our time and with our days – that are detrimental to our emotional and spiritual well-being. In sanctuary we let this life in. In sanctuary we can be wholehearted. We make space to see and to be seen. We make space to welcome, to offer comfort and hope in a world of disruption and misgiving. We make space for God’s invitation to dance. Accept this invitation to begin a journey, to find – to embrace your sanctuary places – and to visit them often. You will be glad you did.
