WHAT IS CONGRESS?
The Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics! Our last RECongress, held in March 2012, brought together nearly 40,000 people during the four-day weekend! We had registrants from across the country and as far away as Ireland and Australia.

BE A PART OF YOUTH DAY
There are presently two ways people can volunteer for Youth Day 2013. Registered youth that will be attending the day are invited to be Emcees and introduce our speakers. That training day will be Saturday, January 19. Also, adults that will NOT be chaperoning a group are invited to become a volunteer (free admission, fun with 14,000 young people, and a free hot dog!). We need youth-friendly adults to help with crowd control, giving directions, and much more. If interested, please check the adult volunteer form on our website. In the coming weeks we will also be adding a form for any young person that would like to be part of the Youth Day Choir as a singer or musician.

REGISTER ONLINE
FIRST — Please have your Congress workshop choices ready before you begin your online registration process. You can find online session descriptions here. We recommend that you select a first and a second choice of workshop for each period you plan to attend.

SECOND
Online registration for Congress is a two-part process: 1) Make your payment (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted.) Then, 2) Once your payment is processed, submit your workshop choices. Congress registration is $65 per person. Remember, fees increase after January 4, 2013, so register early.

The Want to "guarantee" getting your first choices of Congress workshops? Register online now. Workshops are not actually assigned to a room location until we get the first 5,000 registrants. At that point, we run a projection of attendance and assign the most popular workshops to the Arena and the larger rooms. So, generally speaking, the first 5,000 registrants are "guaranteed" their first choices.

CONGRESS FILM SHOWCASE
Friday, February 22, 2013
8:00 pm - Anaheim Convention Center

The Center for Religion and Spirituality and the Archdiocesan Office for Religious Education invite you to the 2013 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress Film Showcase in Anaheim, California.

As a society, we have come to recognize the great catechetical power that modern cinema and media have in forming the Catholic conscience. One local minister put it best: “up until 50 years ago, people learned values, ethics, morals, and spirituality through their sacred texts and clergy. Today, much of our culture learns about these things through the movies.” Thus, the Congress Film Showcase was established in 2007 to highlight cinematic work rooted thematically in the Catholic social teaching, narrative tradition and spirituality. The Showcase honors and exhibits excerpts from narrative feature lengths, shorts, documentaries, experimental and animation films with an international audience of educators, ministers, artists and fellow filmmakers from both the Hollywood and independent communities.

REQUEST FOR SUBMISSIONS
We are currently accepting submissions for the Congress Film Showcase. Entry projects must be submitted in their entirety on DVD for consideration, along with a project synopsis and pertinent media information (list of awards, festival screenings, press releases, filmmaker biographies, distribution/retail information if available). Submission Deadline: Saturday, December 1, 2012. Please visit the Showcase website at www.lafilmshowcase.org for more information and submission form.
