WHAT IS CONGRESS?
The Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics! Our last RECongress, held in March 2012, brought together nearly 40,000 people during the four-day weekend! We had registrants from across the country and as far away as Ireland and Australia.

YOUTH DAY SCHEDULE
The full Youth Day schedule in now available online along with the registration form. (Online registration is coming.) Youth Day, with its theme "Keep Calm God's Got This," will have the same new format that began last year, with two separate Tracks (1 & 2) that allow all participants to celebrate liturgy with Archbishop José Gomez and hear our featured Youth Day speaker Fr. Tony Ricard. We suggest that you share the list of speakers with your young people and allow them to choose  those topics that interest them. Also, review the schedule and select the track that best serves your group. Each group will still choose a second workshop (along with a back-up choice) to attend in the Convention Center. Those workshops will still be offered both in the morning and afternoon. Check the Youth Day Schedule and the Workshop listing online.

SPEAKER FEATURE: FR. RICHARD ROHR, OFM
Friday, February 22, 2013
3:00 - 4:30 pm - Session 3-23
"Immortal Diamond: The Search for Our True Self"
Fr. Richard Rohr uses the title of his last book to lead us on a mining operation. What is the self that Jesus says “must die” and what is the self that must be found? What is wonderful and what is difficult about this search? Why is it so foundational to all healthy religion? How does God work in the soul to achieve the discovery of our own “immortal diamond”?

Sunday, February 24, 2013
10:00 - 11:30 am - Session 7-22
"Breathing Under Water: The Gospel and Recovery"
Fr. Richard Rohr teaches that the 12 Step program of Alcohol Anonymous (AA) mirrors and makes very practical the message of Jesus and helps us recognize we are all addicts in some way – surely to our way of thinking – and need a way out and through. He considers the program and the specific American contribution to the history of spirituality.

Fr. Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest of the New Mexico Province, founded the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, N.M., where he currently lives. He is also founder of The Rohr Institute and its Living School for Action and Contemplation. Fr. Rohr divides his time between local work and preaching/teaching around the world. He has made several audio and video recordings, and is best known for his writings, which include “The Naked Now” and “Everything Belongs.”
