WHAT IS
CONGRESS?
The
Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese
of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the
nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics!
Our last RECongress, held in March 2011, brought together
nearly 40,000 people during the four-day weekend! We
had registrants from across the country and as far away
as Ireland and Australia.

SUNDAY
ADDRESS ANNOUNCED
"Live, Laugh and Be Happy"
Anne Bryan Smollin,
To be truly human means to be fully alive, to seize
life and the possibility of each moment, reaching
out and connecting with those who need our presence.
We are touched with graced moments. Research shows
that happy people are more altruistic, more
productive, more helpful, more likable, more
creative, more resilient, more interested in others,
friendlier and healthier. These holy moments offer
us the opportunity to live, laugh and be happy.
SUNDAY
SPANISH
ADDRESS
"Viviendo la misión de Jesús en nuestro
mundo de hoy”
Cardenal Oscar Rodriguez
Como personas de fe somos enviadas a participar en
la misión evangelizadora de la Iglesia. A proclamar
la Buena Nueva; actúa con justicia, ama tiernamente
y dar testimonio de nuestra relación con Jesucristo.
Esta sesión examinará las esperanzas y desafíos
envueltos en vivir esta visión y misión en nuestro
mundo de hoy.
You can find our updated online listing of Congress
speakers — 193 scheduled for this year — presenting
308 workshops over the four-day weekend. Find the
complete listing online.

YOUTH
DAY ARENA SESSION
Mike Patin
“Sync-tification”
Phones and MP3
players rock! Texts, voice mail, music, apps: You
can “trip out” your device ... but unless it’s
charged and sync-ed … it doesn’t do a lotta good. Be
ready to be “called out” to charge yourself up and
then to share and blare your playlist to the world!
A reminder
about the change to the format of Youth Day
2012: This year there are two Tracks at Youth Day,
and everyone will get to experience the same Arena
events -- a
Rally, a Liturgy ... and this Arena workshop session
by Mike Patin.
Depending on whether you are in Track 1 or Track 2
will determine if you see the Arena events in the
morning or in the afternoon.

page
