The Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics! Our last RECongress, held in March 2011, brought together nearly 40,000 people during the four-day weekend! We had registrants from across the country and as far away as Ireland and Australia.

See 2011 Congress Statistics

Dates for our next Los Angeles Religious Education Congress dates are:
March 22, 2012 (Youth Day)
March 23-25, 2012

Congress is held at the Anaheim Convention Center, located at 800 West Katella Ave. in Anaheim, Calif. (just across from Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure). See a Yahoo Map

The registration fee for Congress is $60 per person. Youth Day has a separate registration and fee of
$20 per person. (Fees go up after February 4, 2012.)

The Registration Guidebook contains all workshop and speaker descriptions, entertainment and liturgy options, and all events during Congress. There are two Registration Forms per book. If you attended RECongress 2011, you will automatically be mailed a Registration Guidebook. Guidebooks will be available late-October.

"Live, Laugh and Be Happy"
Anne Bryan Smollin,
To be truly human means to be fully alive, to seize life and the possibility of each moment, reaching out and connecting with those who need our presence. We are touched with graced moments. Research shows that happy people are more altruistic, more productive, more helpful, more likable, more creative, more resilient, more interested in others, friendlier and healthier. These holy moments offer us the opportunity to live, laugh and be happy.

"Viviendo la misión de Jesús en nuestro mundo de hoy”
Cardenal Oscar Rodriguez
Como personas de fe somos enviadas a participar en la misión evangelizadora de la Iglesia. A proclamar la Buena Nueva; actúa con justicia, ama tiernamente y dar testimonio de nuestra relación con Jesucristo. Esta sesión examinará las esperanzas y desafíos envueltos en vivir esta visión y misión en nuestro mundo de hoy.

You can find our updated online listing of Congress speakers — 193 scheduled for this year — presenting 308 workshops over the four-day weekend. Find the complete listing online.

Mike Patin
Phones and MP3 players rock! Texts, voice mail, music, apps: You can “trip out” your device ... but unless it’s charged and sync-ed … it doesn’t do a lotta good. Be ready to be “called out” to charge yourself up and then to share and blare your playlist to the world!

A reminder about the change to the format of Youth Day 2012: This year there are two Tracks at Youth Day, and everyone will get to experience the same Arena events -- a Rally, a Liturgy ... and this Arena workshop session by Mike Patin. Depending on whether you are in Track 1 or Track 2 will determine if you see the Arena events in the morning or in the afternoon.

The Registration Guidebook is online! You don't have to wait for the mail -- you can see it now. The Registration Guidebook is your key to registering for Congress. If you attended Congress 2011, you will automatically receive the book when it comes out later this month. (We even check for postal address changes for those of you who have moved since last year!)

Included is a welcome message from Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez and Sister Edith Prendergast, Archdiocesan Director for the Office of Religious Education, in addition to speaker listings, workshop and event descriptions, hotel listings, transportation opportunities and an Anaheim area map.

If you didn't attend Congress 2011 and would like to receive the Guidebook, you can sign up online to be mailed a copy. Also, to save paper, the Guidebook
