WHAT IS CONGRESS?
The Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education, is the nation's largest annual gathering of Roman Catholics! Our last RECongress, held in March 2010, brought together nearly 40,000 people during the four-day weekend! We had registrants from across the country and as far away as Ireland and Australia.

CONGRESS THEME

 "Hold Firm ... Trust!" /  "Mantente Firme ... ¡Confía!"
Our Congress theme, “Hold Firm … Trust!” draws us into the outrageous love of a God who steadfastly accompanies us on the journey, steadies us in times of challenge, and leads us to refreshment and renewal." ...

You can find the complete reflection on the RECongress 2011 theme by Sr. Edith Prendergast, Director of the Office of Religious Education, on our web site — along with reflections from prior years.

CONGRESS SPEAKERS
Congress 2011 once again offers its list of speakers -- 193 scheduled for this year -- presenting 308 workshops over the 4-day weekend. Just this week the Sunday addresses were announced:

Sunday English Address - March 20, 2011 - 8:30 am
Dr. Greer Gordon
The Cross as Transformation
Across the cultural, economic and educational spectrum people appear to be suffering from a common malady of hopelessness. As Christians, we claim to be heirs to a promise that overcomes the death of hopelessness. We profess that through the death and resurrection of Christ, our losses have been transformed, and we are redeemed. This session will address the continuing need to unfold the meaning of the cross for a suffering world. It will offer insights into the necessity of teaching and preaching the enigma of the cross, as an essential sign of hope. For, in the midst of the darkness and despair, there is the transforming light of the resurrected crucified Christ.

Sunday Spanish Address - March 20, 2011 - 8:30 am
Asamblea General - Domingo, 20 de marzo - 8:30 am
Dora Tobar Mensbrugghe
